ABOUT MARY KAY

I am Mary Kay Baird, photographer and owner of Gold Leaf Productions. If you just want to know the basics about me, skip to Just the Facts, Ma'am.  If you want to know what makes me tick as a photographer and artist, keep reading.

All photographers and artists say they have a passion for their work. I certainly hope so. If not, they’re in the wrong business!

Well, I am in the right business. My passion for art and photography borders on obsession. Creating art is what I was meant to do. I never considered doing anything else. I started making my own greeting cards at about age 3 and have been creating art for myself and others ever since.

Over the years, my creative soul has found expression through jobs as a calligrapher, layout artist, graphic designer, photographer, book illustrator and as a volunteer for various activities (including five years as a photographer and graphic designer for my daughter's elementary school yearbook; hello Butlerville Elementary!)

Finally in 2005, I opened my own photography and graphic design studio, where I like to work closely with my customers to create art from the special times, people and animals in their lives. 

I love people. I love animals. I love nature. Oh, what the heck, I love life! I look for the beauty around me and try to capture the emotion of an instant. My goal is to make you see and feel what I saw and felt in that special moment. Whether it’s a sunset, a bug, my family, or yours, I love to record God’s blessings in photos and share them with others.

I'm also a bit of a computer geek. To me, working in the digital darkroom is as much fun as taking the original photograph. One image can become many unique works of art that express emotion or drama or beauty in different ways.

To sum up, I live to be creative and I’ll do a good job for you. We’ll work together as a team. We’ll have fun. And if I do my job well, we will create a work of art that makes you say, “Wow.”
